ABB man joins safety elite

Stuart Nunns has been awarded TUV Functional Safety Expert status by TUV Rheinland. Mr Nunns is principal safety consultant for ABB and one of only 25 people worldwide to be named as a Functional Safety Expert under this scheme.

TUV Rheinland offers a two-tiered system of functional safety qualifications, with Functional Safety Engineers and Functional Safety Experts. ABB already has several TUV-certified Functional Safety Engineers operating in key markets around the world, but Mr Nunns is the first ABB engineer to reach the level of Expert.

“Functional safety is all-embracing,” he explains. “It not only covers the safety systems themselves, but also all aspects of the safety lifecycle and supply chains that together ensure that the required functional safety performance is achieved.”
