Machine breakdown text messaging to your mobile!11 July 2008The new GSM Transmitter Element for WERMA signal towers
Machine downtime and the resulting cost-intensive production losses cost time, money and nerves. To avoid these consequences WERMA from Rietheim, Germany, has developed a GSM Transmitter Element for the KombiSign 70 and 71 signal towers. This development enables you to reduce machine downtime to a minimum, easily increase the productivity of your plant and to use monitoring time more effectively.
Easy to use – High Tech has to be easy to operate
With the development of the GSM Transmitter Element WERMA Signaltechnik offers you completely new possibilities - and all you need for the operation of your GSM Transmitter Element is a SIM card and your mobile phone. The Element can be simply integrated into any KombiSign signal tower from WERMA and is easy to operate. To initialise the GSM Transmitter Element no programming skills are required - a single call from your mobile phone is enough and the element is automatically configured when contact is first established. From now on the element sends within seconds a text message to your phone or calls you as soon as your machinery develops a malfunction. So you are informed about the current status of your plant at any time and wherever you happen to be. If you want to switch your mobile off, you can check beforehand by remote enquiry that your equipment is running to perfection. This enables you to prevent machine downtime and lengthy production losses as well as to easily increase the productivity of your company.
Multiusing - Flexibility of use
The GSM Transmitter Element offers you complete flexibility of use. If the element is not required on one machine, it can be fitted without any problem onto the signal tower of another machine.

The new GSM Transmitter Element from WERMA provides a competitively priced alternative to traditional supervision systems. The main advantage of this element is that it requires no additional wiring. As a consequence it does not take up valuable space or require either an additional power supply or telephone connection. Another advantage is that you do not need either programming skills or programming software.
Furthermore, the GSM Transmitter Element from WERMA is able to send four different signals to your mobile phone, that means that you can chose individually the signal of each KombiSIGN signal tower that should be sent to your mobile, if you would like to receive a message, a call (free of charge), both of them at same time or no message at all. Concerning the message text you have the possibility to use a text that was preset or an individual text.
Free operation possible
Besides the comfortable possibility of receiving a chargeable text message the GSM Transmitter Element offers the so called Call Mode. The Call Mode makes it possible that the receiver will be called by the GSM Transmitter Element for free when there are one or several malfunctions signalled by the signal tower. In addition to that the GSM Transmitter Element can be easily deactivated by a free call from your mobile phone. his function prevents a text message being sent to the mobile phone whilst the machine operator is present or whilst the machine is being set up. A text message will only then be sent when the element is re-activated by a second call. The Transmitter Element can also be activated or deactivated by a hardware, for example by an extern switch or by SPS.
Status signal to fax or PC - no problem
With the GSM Transmitter Element it is possible at any time that the message containing the machine`s status will be transmitted to a fax or to a PC. It is no problem as well to keep several persons informed.
Competitively priced alternative for initial and additional equipment
When fitted onto the WERMA KombiSIGN Signal Tower, the GSM Transmitter Element is an optimal addition to the existing signal towers with a tremendous effect. If the machine operator is present, he can be informed about special messages of the machine by means of the optical or audible signals of the signal tower. When he is on the move, the GSM Transmitter Element from WERMA takes over this task.
An additional installation of the Transmitter Element to the existing signal tower is possible without problems. For initial equipment the GSM Transmitter Element is a competitively priced and user-friendly alternative as well.
Application examples
The new GSM Transmitter Element from WERMA can be used in many different applications. It is especially suitable where machines and processes are automated and operated largely without supervision.
In such cases the GSM Transmitter Element takes over the observation of the respective machines as for example injection mouldings, erosion machines or assembly plants and offers the machine operator the possibility to free himself from his machinery and to use monitoring time more effectively - within his own plant, on the move, at home or at the weekend.
But this flexible element can also be used in applications with high shelves, pallet stations or transport systems without drivers or in chemical processes.
