VLT Soft Starter MCD 500 - the single speed drive

The new Danfoss VLT MCD 500 soft starter is a complete motor starting system with advanced start, stop and protection feature; Adaptive Acceleration Control (AAC); built-in delta connections; a four-line graphical display and multiple programming setup menus.

The MCD 500 is an advanced, intelligent motor starter that constantly monitors the behaviour of the load to adjust and refine its dynamic performance.

The AAC principle automatically selects and adjusts the best starting and stopping profile for the application. It measures motor current and provides feedback for constant improvement of motor ramp profiles.

The four-line graphical display and logic keypad make programming easy. A more advanced setup is also possible, displaying full operational status. The MCD 500 has three menu systems providing the optimum programming approach:

– Quick Menu,
– Application Setup
– Main Menu

The MCD 500 covers the range 21 – 1,600A (7.5 – 800kW), and offers versions across the voltage range 200 – 690Vac. The power range can be extended to 1.2MW when using the integral delta connection.

VLT Soft Starter MCD 500 has a series of options for serial communication, including DeviceNet, Profibus, Modbus RTU and USB.
