One module fits all – a flexible universal signal conditioner and trip amplifier05 February 2010With its new Wave TTA (Transmitter Trip Amplifier), Weidmuller now offers a universal signal conditioner and trip amplifier that functions as an isolator, conditioner, transmitter, lineariser and trip amplifier all in a single unit. The Wave TTA accepts and processes a variety of input signals, including those from thermocouples, potentiometers and frequency transmitters, plus dc voltage or current signals. The unit isolates, transmits and linearises sensor signals and supplies standardised analogue current and voltage signals to the output. For alarm functions there are two relay contacts with configurable switching thresholds. A 24 Vdc supply is made available to sensors and field devices using two-wire technology; alternatively, the Wave TTA offers a passive loop-powered input. Equipped with a wide-range power supply, the Wave TTA ensures precise and stable operations with all common sensor types. Inputs and outputs can be individually configured using the interface module CBX100 USB, which is connected to the Wave TTA via the USB port on a PC or laptop. The configuration software 'TTA SET' is included and can also be downloaded free of charge from Weidmuller's website. The Wave TTA offers high accuracy (<0.1 percent) and thermal stable (<0.01 percent K). The compact unit (92.4 mm x 112.5 mm x 45 mm, L x H x W) will tolerate ambient temperatures from -40 to +70C, and is available with CE and cULus approvals. Additional approvals due in early 2010 include C1D2 and Zone 2 (ATEX) for hazardous area deployment.
