‘Green’ power supplies

TDK-Lambda has introduced a series of ‘green’ power supplies that comply with the energy saving requirements of Energy Star and the ErP (Energy related Products) Directive. Ideal for use in light industrial equipment and front-end equipment for broadcast and communications applications, the 250W GWS series ac-dc power supply combines high efficiency, high power density and low standby power plus the benefit of a five-year warranty.

With its 105x199mm footprint and 1U height, the GWS250 is a compact, convection cooled product that offers a suitable retrofit for fan cooled models. Rated at 250W, the power supply comes in four models with nominal outputs of 12V (21A), 24V (10.5A), 36V (7A) and 48V (5.3A).

Outputs are user adjusted by up to 20% depending on model type – and the 24V and 36V models have a peak power rating of 300W. With a flat efficiency curve averaging at 93%, from 25 to 100% load, the GWS250 range can be operated at full load from -25 to 50°C ambient temperature and up to +70°C with suitable de-rating.
